Preparation
Help preparing for Cyber Essentials
We help you prepare for the Cyber Essentials scheme. We are not an accreditation body and we do not grant the certificate.

Buyers and councils sometimes ask a small firm to show Cyber Essentials before a contract. The questionnaire is specific. It is not a general pep talk about passwords and it is not something we can award.
Preparation only
We are not an accreditation body. We do not issue Cyber Essentials certificates. We help you get ready for the scheme and we stop there.
- A read of the current question set against how you actually work.
- Gaps such as shared logins, missing multi-factor sign-in and firewalls nobody manages.
- A short list of changes before you apply through an official certification body.
- A note of what we will not pretend is already done.
The fee for that preparation is agreed up front. The certification body's own charge is separate and you pay them.
Day-to-day habits sit on cyber security basics. Schools use education support. Mail and admin accounts often overlap with Microsoft 365 support.
Questions we hear
Are you an accreditation body?
No. IT Dorset is not an accreditation body. We help you prepare. A certification body assesses the application and decides the outcome.
Do you already hold Cyber Essentials for clients?
We do not claim a certificate, a badge or a scheme membership we do not hold. Preparation is practical work on your accounts and devices.
Is this the same as a school risk assessment?
No. Education settings have their own page. This preparation is for the Cyber Essentials question set used by small firms and their suppliers.
